What is a Bible verse alarm?
Bible Verse Alarm is an iPhone alarm that keeps ringing until you complete a short Bible verse, so your first minute of the day goes to God's Word, not your phone. That kind of alarm is what people mean by a Bible verse alarm.
Download on theApp StoreHow does it work?
A Bible verse alarm rings until you finish a short mission with a verse, so one tap can't switch it off. You set a wake-up time, choose the verses it uses, and complete the verse when it rings.
The steps:
1. Set your time and pick your verses. 2. The alarm rings, even on Silent or in a Focus mode. 3. Rebuild the verse word by word, or type it out. 4. The alarm stops. You're awake, and you've just read Scripture.
David describes a similar rhythm in a morning prayer: he brings his requests to God at daybreak, then waits. The alarm gives you a small, daily way to start there.
In the morning, O LORD, You hear my voice; at daybreak I lay my plea before You and wait in expectation.
Psalms 5:3
How is it different from a normal alarm?
A normal alarm stops with one tap. A Bible verse alarm stops only when you complete the verse, so a half-asleep swipe can't end it. It also decides what you see first: a verse you chose, not your notifications. The table shows the main differences.
| Normal alarm | Verse alarm | |
|---|---|---|
| How it stops | One tap or swipe | Complete a short verse |
| First thing you see | Whatever is on your phone | A verse you chose |
| Rings on Silent or Focus | Depends on the app | Yes, using Apple's AlarmKit |
How is it different from a Bible app?
A Bible app waits for you to open it. A Bible verse alarm comes to you the moment you wake up, and asks you to engage with the verse rather than just see it.
They work well together. The alarm starts the day with a verse. A longer Bible reading plan can come later.
The Bible text is stored on your phone, so it works offline, with no account or login.
Who is it for?
A Bible verse alarm suits anyone who wants Scripture to come first in the morning and keeps forgetting to start. That includes:
- People who reach for their phone the second they wake up. - Anyone who wants to memorize verses, since you rebuild each one yourself. - Anyone who wants a simple morning anchor, not a big routine.
You choose the verses. You might pick verses on encouragement, anxiety, sleep or strength.
One to start with is Lamentations 3:22-23. The writer is grieving, yet he says God's mercies are new every morning. It fits a first minute of the day.
Because of the loving devotion of the LORD we are not consumed, for His mercies never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness!
Lamentations 3:22-23
Who is it not for?
It isn't for you if you want a gentle one-tap alarm, need an Android app (iPhone only for now), or want a full Bible reading or study app. It is an alarm, not a reading plan. Pair it with a Bible app for longer reading.
What else is in the app?
The app has a Verses tab with scenes you unlock by waking up, and a Practice tab to rehearse verses any time. English Bibles in the app are NIV, WEB, KJV and BSB. It is an iPhone app, free to download, and full use needs a subscription. Family Sharing is supported. There is no Android version yet. Bible Verse Alarm is made by Kenneth Foo, a solo developer in Malaysia who has been a Christian for over 15 years.
